Some Cool Flash Drives You Can Buy for Transferring Your Files
By timorous
File backups…the bane of computing, right? Well, you’ve gotta use something, don’t you? You can use another folder or partition on your hard drive, or use an external hard drive. Or burn those files onto a CD or DVD. You can even back them up onto an old floppy disk [snicker, snicker], or a Zip drive.
But that’s like..so yesterday. They’re still kinda big and inconvenient to carry around aren’t they? What if all you want to do is quickly transfer some files from your desktop computer to your laptop computer…or someone else’s?
Welcome to modern memory storage and the USB flash drive.
Memory storage has come a long way in the last few years. The capacities have increased ten-fold, and the size of the chips that hold that data have shrunk incredibly. These cool flash drives have a number of excellent advantages:
- It’s no bigger than an eraser
- It stores a huge amount of data for its’ size
- It simply plugs into any USB port on anyone’s computer
- It takes less than a couple of minutes to transfer files
- It easily fits into your pocket…a few of them will, actually
- It has no moving parts
- It’s fairly inexpensive
- It’s boring and merely functional
No, wait…I didn’t really mean that last point. After all, it doesn’t have to be simply utilitarian, does it? In fact it was a design opportunity just waiting to be exploited. It may be one of the coolest gadgets of the 21st century, but ingenuity, creativity and frivolity knows no bounds...and has finally come together in the form of a whole slew of cool flash drives...
That's right, a number of clever people have just put the fun back into functional...

Hey G.L. That was pretty quick. So glad you were amused and amazed. They do make a fun and useful gift, absolutely.
You have yourself a lovely holiday as well. Cheers.
Sounds fun and functional, could make a wonderful gift for teenagers and may be others not so teen. May be you could add a few more of those flash drives at the end of the hub to give the reader a wider choice. Good Work!
Thanks very much sofs. There's certainly no lack of amusing creativity, or just plain silliness. I love it!
Good information from you. These all so cute. I never knew the Flash Drive with funny share like this before. I want to have one. Thanks for share with us. Take care!
Hi prasetio. Yeah..this is just a small sampling of what's out there...and some of these designs are certainly 'out there'.
You take care, as well.
These are great! Right now, my husband has about a 1/2 dozen flash drives, and most are unlabeled, so it is always a challenge to find the one I want. Fun shaped ones would make it much easier, for the labeling impaired, like me!
Exactly, Ivorwen. I guess that was partly the idea with these fun flash drives. These are just a few that are available. There are some really strange ones out there. Thanks for having fun...now go and buy a couple..haha.
Love the chocolate cake one. I do like a bit of fun and creativity! These would make such a great gift.
Thanks a million and rated up! Yay!
Yeah..I like the Black Forest Cake one too. LOL. So glad you had a fun read, and thanks for the 'up' vote, Bk.
Very cool so many fun flash drives to choose from - the fortune cookie and light bulb are very unique.
Hi billy; Yeah, cool stuff alright..and that's just the tip of the iceberg. My search revealed many a bizarre flash drive design. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi tim- this is a great hub and boy do I need a new USB right about now. I lost mine last night and it has yet to turn up. I'm not a happy camper b/c it had all of my stuff on it and NO back up. Better believe that if I find it I will back everything up...other wise, gosh, don't know what I'm going to do about some stuff that is not on my computer...boo hoo I guess. I like your writing.
Hey..Happy New Year, Denise. Sure...why settle for an ordinary USB flash drive, when you could have a 'fun flash drive' that's easier to find. [Ok..enough of the sales talk]. Thanks for dropping by. Cheers :)
